Our vision is to be ‘the environmental company of choice, delivering change for a sustainable future’. Our values will help us achieve that vision.
Our mission
We want to be known as a company that looks after the needs of its customers and the environment.
Our focus is to build a reputation for providing sustainable solutions that help clients meet their legislative, corporate responsibility and commercial requirements. We want to be known as a company that looks after the needs of its customers and the environment.
To do this we are placing recycling and green energy at the heart of our business, along with a strong focus on waste management solutions for our commercial, industrial and municipal customers. This strategy puts us firmly in the growth market of extracting value from waste.
Own the waste
In order to maintain the operational efficiency of our facilities, we need to control the feedstock through them.
This can only be guaranteed if we own the waste through contracted work. Our municipal team focus on key contract wins in and around our infrastructure, allowing us to give maximum value to our clients.
The business waste solutions team develop our collection capability by increasing our service levels and allowing us to be seen as a reliable business waste solutions provider. The combination of municipal services, business waste solutions provider. The combination of municipal services, business waste solutions and third party inputs feed our facilities with the required waste that is vital for the success of our company.
Maximise the value of resources
Our infrastructure continues to grow, enabling us to extract the maximum value from our waste with a development plan
The development plan includes energy from waste, refuse derived fuel (RDF), anaerobic digestion locations. Delivery of this strategy requires the right people and we develop our staff as a resource to ensure that we as a company have the necessary skills to deliver the required change for sustainable future.
Where possible, we will be building our additional infrastucture in and around our existing locations. Delivery of this strategy requires the right people and we develop our staff as a resource to ensure that we as a company have the necessary skills to deliver the required change for a sustainable future.
Produce renewable energy
To add to our portfolio of existing EfW facilities in Lincoln, Nottingham and Kent in 2016 we will add a further site in Buckinghamshire and a second at Herefordshire and Worcestershire. In addition, we are on track to deliver a sixth EfW where we are working with Edinbugh & Midlethian to design, build, operate and finance their 150ktpa Efw.
FCC's EfW has become a major contributor of the UK's green energy supply with the Government's renewable energy target expected to be around 15%. The combination of our RDF facilities and EfW infrastructure is a sustainable alternative to landfilling waste. With energy prices increasing, Energy from Waste is not just about waste management; it forms an important part of the waste industry's future. In addition, installing wind turbines and growing crops for energy production on our existing assets will not only maximise the value of our resources but also reduce costs and our carbon footprint, allowing us to move closer to self-sustaining facilities and maintaining operational efficiencies. Where possible, we will be building our additional infrastructure in and around our existing locations. Delivery of this strategy requires the right people and we develop our staff as a resource to ensure that we as a company have the necessary skills to deliver the required change for a sustainable future.
Provide 360° solutions
The waste processing division plays vital role in our strategy.
We need to be able to provide our customers with a 360° solution for all waste, including streams that are not able to be reused, recycled or converted for energy production. Our asset base is a huge strength that enables us to provide national coverage for the final disposal of our customers' waste.
The future of FCC Environment's UK operations centres around resource recovery; by owning the waste and maximising the value of resource, we ill be in a strong position to meet our business, and customer requirements.
Blackburn Meadows, FCC Environment, is one of the three ISO 14001 - accredited treatment facilities located in Yorkshire, processing 250,000 tonnes of liquid, solid and packaged wastes every year.
