Household Waste Recycling Centres
At FCC Environment our market leading expertise in the development and management of household waste recycling centres is helping local authorities across the UK make a significant contribution to meeting challenging EU recycling and landfill diversion targets.
Household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) are helping the general public to recycle their bulky household waste disposal and ensure unwanted but otherwise serviceable goods are reused wherever possible.
We are already the UK’s leading operator of household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) for local authorities, with 87 sites and more to come.
We continue to develop new ideas to help members of the public to divert more waste from landfill and get the most from the waste they bring to the HWRCs. For example we are working with national and local charity partners to open re-use shops at some of our sites to sell re-usable items such as furniture, books, cycles, CDs and DVDs, gardening tools and bric-a-brac.
As a result funds generated from the sale of these products go straight to the charity, not only benefiting them but ensuring perfectly usable items have a new lease of life and are not ending up in landfill.
