23 September 2014Frrist Golden Plover and Teal of Autumn, Buzzards, Curlew roost, Raven, Painted lady and Common Darters. by Keith G MasseyPicked out my first Golden Plover a single and six Teal on Mersey banks of Autumn with three soaring Buzzard high above. The Curlew roost produced 60 birds with 6 Heron roosting on banks with two Raven on pylons. Earlier on my way to watch point a Painted lady butterfly flew low past me and on way back path had 10 Common Darter dragonflies. .click here for full report
15 September 2014Hobby at Eastern Reedbed by Paul CassidyI was watching dragonflies at the Lagoon this morning from the Phoenix Hide. I heard a bird call from behind and turned to see a hobby flying low over the Eastern Reedbed. It flew into the trees to the right of the hide, calling as though it had just been spooked by something. If only I'd had my camera at the here for full report
01 September 2014Sunday Afternoon Little Egret, Common Sandpipers, Greenshanks, Ravens, Buzzards and Curlews. by Keith G MasseyGot to my watch point at 1300 and soon picked out a Little Egret feeding south side between Cuerdley/Norton marshes later moved to north side. Three Common Sandpiper came down river to rest and feed for five mins west side of Cuerdley point then flew across to south side and out of sight. Three Buzzards were again perched on pylons with two very vocal Ravens also there one earlier came down on banks to flush all gulls and waders. Later when tide started to come in I heard Greenshanks calling when four flying around came down just opposite me then were joined by two more making six they flew up and around for five minutes and moveed west along Mersey banks. Twenty minutes later two moving west came down and after a few minutes flying around carried on down river making eight birds in all and an imm Great Crested Grebe was fishing just below me. Walking back along canal path plenty of Common Darters were in front of me with a Peacock here for full report
