A planning application for two wind turbines has been formally submitted to Fenlands District Council as of the 8th June 2011. The submission of the planning application to Fenlands District Council follows a detailed Environmental Statement (ES) of the sites suitability for a wind energy project. The ES examined the potential effects during construction, operation and decommissioning of the turbines. Among the issues considered were: visual impact, access and transport infrastructure, noise, available wind resource and potential effects on local flora and fauna, including birds and bats.
The submission of the planning application follows feedback from a public exhibition held by FCC Environment on the 4th May 2011. Here local residents and other interested parties were provided with the opportunity to find out detailed information about the proposal and provide their own feedback.
A meteorological (met) mast was erect in November 2009 to help assess the available wind resource. In addition, an Environmental Assessment is now taking place to help determine the suitability of the site for a wind energy project.
