March 2014
  • Waste disposal operation continuing in cell 4b to the north of the site.
  • Further gas infrastructure installed in cells 5 and 6 to increase the gas control and provide enough infrastructure to manage future cell 4b and 6c. This infrastructure is now fully operational.
  • Odour control system fully operational.
  • Engineering works to construct cell 6c commenced and progressing well, weather permitting this will be a 16 week project.
  • Drilling of additional wells on cell 7 due to commence 31st March, all existing infrastructure on cell 7 connected and operational.
  • Operations, Environment and Infinis Teams continuing to monitor for odour in operational areas, site perimeter and residential areas.
  • Use of the old entrance at Newton Longville has now ceased as the main haul road through site has been repaired and is now serviceable.
 


February 2014
  • Waste disposal operations continuing in cell 4b to the north of the site.
  • Further gas infrastructure currently being installed in cells 5 and 6 to increase the gas control in this area and provide enough infrastructure to manage future cell 4b and 6c.
  • The new odour control system on the north side of site has now been installed and is fully operational.
  • Engineering of next waste cell 6c due week commencing 10th Mar 2014, this will be a 16 week project [weather permitting].
  • Further gas infrastructure planned on cell 7, will be installed subject to weather allowing access. All existing infrastructure connected and operational.
  • Operations, Environment and Infinis Teams continuing to monitor for odour in operational areas, site perimeter and residential areas.

  • Further gas infrastructure planned on cell 7, this will be installed subject to weather allowing access. All existing infrastructure re-connected and operational.

  • MRF operational. The facility is accepting waste from Milton Keynes and Central Beds.

  • Works for the installation of the odour control system have commenced with completion scheduled for mid December.
 


September 2013
  • Waste disposal operations ceased in Cell 7 with this area now being temporarily capped.
  • Waste disposal operations continuing in Cell 4b to the north of the site.
  • Engineering works currently progressing on site include; Cell 7 temporary cap, Cell 7 bund and surface water works, internal haul road repairs and permanent capping of areas B1 and C2. During the temporary capping of Cell 7 the gas infrastructure will be disconnected and re-connected keeping as much control on the system as possible.
  • Upon completion of the capping works further installation of gas infrastructure will be considered to improve environmental control.

  • MRF commissioning now complete and operational. The facility is accepting waste from Milton Keynes and Central Beds.

July 2013
  • Waste disposal operations continuing in both Cell 7 and Cell 4b.
  • All available gas wells on cell 7 connected and under suction to minimise odour.
  • Further gas infrastructure installed on northern flank of cell 7. There is now a total of 33 extraction well plus 10 shallow pin wells on cell 7.
  • Operations, Environment and Infinis Teams continuing to monitor for odour in operational areas, site perimeter and residential areas.
  • MRF in final stages of commissioning with plant processing waste from Milton Keynes and Central Beds.

  • MRF commissioning process on-going with the plant processing waste from Central Beds and Milton Keynes.

May 2013
 
  • Waste disposal operations in cell 7 continuing with waste also being accepted into the recently engineered cell 4b.
  • Operations ensuring all available gas wells on cell 7 are connected to minimise odour.
  • There is continued odour monitoring on the perimeter boundaries, operational areas and residential areas.
  • The MRF commissioning process is continuing with the plant processing waste from Central Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes
  • There is continued use of the old entrance gates for access to rear of site whilst remedial works and engineering design for the new perimeter road is developed.
  • Successful visit from the HSE on the 21st May

April 2013
  • Waste disposal operations continuing in cell7
  • Further gas well on cell 7 internal slopes and bench complete bringing total number of gas extraction wells on cell 7 to 33.
  • There is continued odour monitoring on the perimeter boundaries, operational areas and residential areas.
  • The MRF commissioning process is underway with the plant processing waste from Central Bedfordshire
  • There is continued use of the old entrance gates for access to rear of site whilst remedial works and engineering design for the new perimeter road is developed.

March 2013
  • Waste disposal operations have continued in cell 7.
  • Monitoring of the capping works and gas well drilling projects carried out in cell 7 has identified areas for further works.
  • Engineering contractors have re-mobilised’ and completed further temporary capping works on areas of the cell 7 internal slopes.  These works also included the placement of a clay access bench that will enable further gas well drilling to be completed on areas that were previously difficult to access.
  • Further gas well drilling has taken place in the operational cell 7 and all gas well has been connected.  More drilling will be completed in April along the newly constructed clay bench.
  • The capping and gas well drilling works have targeted areas of potential odour release within the operational area.  Ongoing monitoring will take place to determine the effectiveness of these works.
  • Additional horizontal gas pipework has been installed and connected within the operational cell.
  • Odour monitoring of the perimeter boundaries, operational areas and residential areas has continued during March.
  • The MRF installation is nearly completed and commissioning is due to take place in April where it will be expected that household waste will then be diverted from landfill to the MRF operation
  • Continued use of the old entrance gate for access whilst remedial an engineering design and new perimeter road proposals are developed


February 2013
  • Continued waste disposal in the operational Cell 7
  • Temporary capping works on the internal slope of cell 7 have been completed.
  • The recently drilled gas wells have all been connected to the main system forming part of the ongoing gas control system for the operational area.
  • Ongoing gas and odour monitoring taking place around the operational area to identify any areas of temporary capping or infrastructure that require further works to minimise the potential for a release of odours.
  • Continued perimeter monitoring taking place as well as off site monitoring around residential areas.
  • Local liaison meeting held on 26th February at the Bletchley office.
  • Construction of the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) is ongoing with the mechanical equipment install taking place.  This involves the fitting of shredders, bailers, conveyors and other processing equipment required for the facility.
  • Construction of the next operational cell (Cell 4B) completed.  This cell is located to the north of the site and upon Environment Agency approval waste disposal will commence in this cell.  This is expected in April or May 2013.


January 2013
  • Waste disposal continues in Cell 7 located to the south east of the site.
  • High level access road to cell 7 now in use along the eastern boundary.
  • Survey work ongoing and engineering plans under review in association with the material slip within the clay dig.  This slip has impacted the internal tarmac access road resulting in diversion of non waste delivery traffic to use the old entrance gate off Bletchley Road and Newton Road.  Contractors light vehicles, delivery vehicles and tankers associated with the leachate treatment plant operation all require access via this route.
  • The temporary capping works on the internal waste slope of Cell 7 have re-commenced following improvements to weather that had impacted access and safe operations for these works during November and December.  These planned works form part of the ongoing measures to control potential odours associated with operations on the site.
  • Gas well drilling commenced and completed within Cell 7 operational area.  Gas wells will be connected to the main system in February.  These planned works form part of the ongoing measures to control potential odours associated with operations on the site.
  • Ongoing odour and gas monitoring taking place around the operational area of cell 7 and along site boundaries and residential areas.
